Ombudsman's Quarterly Update | March 2024
Date posted:This is my last week as Victorian Ombudsman and therefore the last time I write this newsletter. You’ll find my reflections on 10 years in the role in my last report tabled in Parliament here – as I say in the report, I leave the role with both pride and sadness. I will miss it terribly: I think I have had the best job in the State. But it is right that it is a fixed term, and it is time to go.
I congratulate Marlo Baragwanath on her appointment as the sixth Victorian Ombudsman and wish her every success in the role.
And to all the readers of this newsletter, which like my office, will, I hope, go from strength to strength – I hope you have found these contributions useful. The Ombudsman not only investigates complaints and systemic issues; we have many tools in our quest to improve public administration and make Victoria a fairer place. This newsletter highlights the work of the office so that others may learn from both bad practice and good.
The journey to greater fairness and integrity goes on. May the road be smooth.
